2006 USPSA Limited Nationals

I had a feeling this year was going to end differently, and so it did. Rob Leatham didn't win, which is probably the biggest news after a 6 year or so winning streak. In fact, Dave Sevigny took the Limited title with a group of shooters close behind. To win this match you have to claim it before you fire your first shot and back it up with a strong competitor's mindset. This year, Dave did just that. A huge bow and applause to a great accomplishment. I shot on a great squad this year with Mike Seeklander, Glenn Higdon, Ron Avery, Adam Popplewell, Lee "Whocaneventrytorememberhowtospellhislastname" Dimaculangan, Tony Hawkins, Eric Warren, Kert Gaskill, Roman Podlesak from Czech Republic and "guest appearances" by Blake Miguez and Jamie Craig.

I shot my third and best limited nationals so far, placing 6th overall at 96% and winning stages 2 and 6. Before the match I created a mantra to kill the fantasy... "{Henning;} your bullets are not magically going to hit the targets."  It worked and I started the match with a strong sight focus, causing good points and great times. Unfortunately that somewhat faded away into the ether and I finished the second half with sub-par match-winning performances. Analyzing one of the technical aspects, the cause of six bad shots (D's and two No Shoots) can directly be linked to my grip. I need to make it a bit thicker for my gun to naturally point one more degree to the right. Time-constrained targets doesn't allow for any sight picture corrections and when the gun points to the left, well, it shoots to the left. Another lesson in an endless string of...

And at the end of all the if's and bullshit, the bottom line is to always take the time to see each sight picture clearly. No.. there are no magic bullets...

Emanuel Bragg has had a great year with
3 area championship wins.

Adam Popplewell on stage 10.

stage 14.

Mike Seeklander shot a solid match, and finished
5th overall! We collaborated to find the
best way for each of us to shoot the stage.
No secrecy and good squad spirit through
the whole match.

Videos of Mike:

Wes and James, from Colorado.

In fact, Colorado had three shooters in top 16,
with Paul Clark jr (13th), Ron Avery (16th)
and myself.

Maybe we should have state teams in USPSA... ;-)

Lee, shooting on the move on stage 12.
Mike Seeklander crushed everybody on time
with a sub 11 second run.

Unfortunately my stage wins isn't on tape, but
here's a few others:

Garmin Nuvi.
What does this have to do with the match?
Everything... he he, thanks to this great portable
GPS we found our way around,
located motels and food along the way.
Recommended buy!

During our drive I caught this burning truck
on tape
