2006 Nordic Rifle Championship
The Annual Championship alternates between Norway, Finland and Denmark and was held in Borris, Denmark this year. They have been working towards the first IPSC World Rifle Championship. If things go well we hope to see the first World Match in one of the Nordic Countries next couple of years. Now, that's exciting! A lot should be said about what happened in Denmark, but Finland might be a good place for the next match..

Lars Syversen, Norway, did well in Denmark.

From the trench, I'm engaging targets using a
Trijicon / Jpoint setup on a LaRue mount.
Note the Ace Ltd Skeleton stock. A hot ticket.

Here with fellow team mate, Even Skaarer after he finished the trench stage.
It was very windy and cold so we hooded up the entire
time. Not a good place to have a rifle championship
with such shifting wind conditions.
|

Match Winner and the 2006 Nordic Champion, Frank Sandaas shot solid through the entire match.
Frank's a top notch guy in everyone's book.

United States was represented by Ron Filho, Ralph Arredondo, John Gangl (JP), Kelly Neal and Kurt Miller.
Unfortunately Ron got disqualified because of super-tight safety angles. I'm gonna say it - they shouldn't
have made it that tight, it was poor stage design!
See it for yourself, what do you think?
(flag is just above Ron's head)
Congrats to Kurt Miller who took top overall
in Standard class.

Even Skaarer getting his rifle ready.
Watch him shoot from the trench
Here's Even on our first stage.
We later had to reshoot it because of poor RO'ing
and cheap stage set up. The lines on the ground is
supposed to be walls - you cannot run over them
and you had to shoot over the wall even though you
can see the targets on the sides. Did we all pay twice
the normal match fees for them to cut corners
on building stages?

Ralph Arredondo engaging targets using only
the magazine and his own magpad as support.

One of the first sights that welcomed us when we
arrived in Denmark. Danes know beer at least.
