2007 Rocky Mountain 300
Third time around, we face the same 60 round stages brought to us from the mind of Jerry Westcott..
and, YES, you read correctly, 60 round stages. Five stages, 300 rounds, aka the Rocky Mountain 300.
The Weather's always a challenge in Colorado and though it wasn't 'that' bad this year, the drop turners kept getting set off by the wind. The RM300 is an IPSC match on steriods. IPSC conforms to the 3-2-1 format; 3 speed shoots, 2 medium courses and 1 long course. IPSC thinks of a long course as 32 rounds [maximum]. In Colorado, some apparently think a little differently, at least in Weld County... they think of 60 rounds in 18 seconds as .... FUN !
Ever seen 29 IPSC targets on a single stage? "Ramble On" required 58 rounds, at least 3 magazines and it may be all over in 20 seconds... Here's Paul Clark Jr on "Ramble On"

Ken Kwiat on the big steel stage. Let me tell ya,
it's a different challenge to flatten 60 pieces of steel.
They can be easy to miss just because
you get a little confused from hearing all that "ding".

Everybody helps out, which is necessary when
you've got 30 targets to tape...

The Sunday Shoot Off is a major part of the fun.
With the "handicap system" it allows every level
in every divisions to compete against each other.
For example: a GM shooter gets 10 poppers, whereas a Limited D shooter gets 4.
If you believe you're twice as good,
well, you better hit twice as fast...
Both Glenn and I agreed that we were mostly intimiated facing the revolver shooters...
Sporting C-More's and compensators,
our egos would probably suffer devastation
losing to a wheelgun...
