You have probably seen various attempts at trigger jobs onto M15 type rifles using screws through the receiver or welded on the trigger itself. This achieved a short term benefit in some cases but long term durability was poor.

Other gunsmiths tried to modify sear and hammer notch geometry with even less success as the mil-spec hammers and triggers have a very thin case hard surface and when this surface is cut through, the parts deform very quickly. For years, the common wisdom dictated that only 2 stage triggers were a viable solution for the M15 rifle.

The sear geometry and metallurgy of the stock parts will only tolerate the pounding of the hammer reseting to full sear engagement. A reduced sear engagment setting causes premature deformation of the sear egde. This problem, combined with complex disconnector timing issues causes the trigger to "double" or fire more than one round with one pull of the trigger after a few hundred rounds.

The JP triggers and hammers are metallurgically improved to withstand many thousands of duty cycles without wear or deformation. The JP trigger features engagement and over travel adjustments in combination with completely re-engineered precision ground sear geometry, eliminating most of the hammer camming effect so prevalent with the original parts. Disconnector timing is corrected as part of the installation process thereby eliminating the fire on release or “doubling” problem, when properly installed. The extremely short reset of the hammer ensures a durable relationship between the parts and a much more precise feel to the fire and reset motion of the trigger.

The complete absence of take up and over-travel, and incredibly short reset, makes this fire control system the best possible compromise between precision and speed for action or tactical rifle competition.

If you have a good mechanical aptitude and some basic tools, you can install it yourself.
